This is me, Jemilyn Pascua. A grade 11 GAS student, I am here to introduce you 10 uncommonly used filipino words.

Many people are not aware of some uncommon words of filipino, we often find foreigners who struggle to learn Tagalog rather amusing. But truth be told, Filipinos–no matter how fluent we are in speaking our native language–still have so much to learn. So here are some examples of uncommonly used filipino words. Enjoy reading

English Translation : Car

1. Batlag

Definition : A vehicle moving on wheels

Sentence Example: Ang pangarap ko pag tapos ko ng pag aaral, bibi ako ng batlag na kulay asul.

2. Awangan

English Translation : Forever

Definition : For a limitless time

Sentence Example : Ang pagmamahal ko sa iyo ay awangan.

3. Salipawpaw

English Translation: Airplane

Definition : A powered heavier-than-air aircraft with fixed wings from which it derives most of its lift

Sentence Example: Ang pagsakay sa salipapaw ay pangarap ko ng sakyan simula noong ako ay bata pa lamang.

4. Duyog

English Translation : Eclipse

Definition: An occasion when the sun looks like it is completely or partially covered with the dark circle because the moon is between the sun and the Earth.

Sentence Example: Marami ang nabighani sa kagandahan na ipinamalas ng duyog.

5. Labaha

English Translation : Razor

Definition : A keen-edged cutting instrument for shaving or cutting hair.

Sentence Example : Nagpagupit si papa gamit ang labaha.

6. Sambat

English Translation : Fork

Definition An implement with two or more prongs used especially for taking up (as in eating), pitching, or digging.

Sentence Example :  Madalang lang kami gumamit ng sambat tuwing kakain dahil mahilig kami kumain gamit ang kamay.

7. Anluwage

English Translation : Carpenter

Dedinition: A worker who builds or repairs wooden structures or their structural parts.

Sentence Example: Ang aming bahay ay ginawa ng mga anluwage.

8.Pulot-Gata

English Translation : Honeymoon

Definition: A period of unusual harmony especially following the establishment of a new relationship.

Sentence Example: Ang bagong kasal ay nagpunta pa ng ibang bansa para mag pulot-gata.

9. Durungawan

English Translation : Window

Definition : An opening especially in the wall of an opening especially in  a building for admission of light and air thatis usually closed by casementsor sashes containingtransparent material (such as glass) and capable of beingopened and shut

Sentence Example : Nang siya ay dumungaw sa durungawan, preskang hangin ang kaniyang nalanghap.

10. Irog

English Translation : Love ones

Definition: A dearly loved person

Sentence Example: Oh irog ko, sasamahan kita hanggang sa ating pagtanda.
